Walnut, Almond and Vanilla Butter

 

We have probably all heard of almond butter, peanut butter and even ABC butter but walnut butter is not exactly common and I really don't know why! We love walnuts in our house. They are one of the healthiest nuts, great for our gut and also are a bit softer for younger teeth. Whole nuts aren't recommended for children under 5 due to the choking hazard though nut butters are a great alternative. This nut butter is a sweet butter, beautiful with slice of apple or on a piece of wholegrain toast. Like always, it is simple to make with no cooking and will store well in the fridge. Like all natural nut butters, the oils will settle on top so just give it a stir before using.

How is it loaded? Full of walnuts which are high in plant based omega 3's, almonds with their high quality protein and vanilla which is actually a great source of antioxidants, this is a nutritious blend.

Makes 1 large jar.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of walnuts
  • 1 cup of almonds
  • 1 tsp of vanilla bean paste
  • few drops of stevia (optional)

Process:

  • Add all ingredients to a high powered food processor and process until the desired consistency is achieved. This can take quite a few minutes. It will go through a dry phase, it will then start to come together in a ball and finally will turn creamy or buttery so be patient.
  • Pour into a clean jar and enjoy.
