If you have little to no time and need a little treat, go no further than these simple, nutritious delights! You may or may not be into the whole essential oil craze. From what I have seen, the more you learn about what the oils can do, the more obsessed you become! So far, I enjoy using them to flavour my food so here is a recipe that I have used the Doterra Wild orange essential oil in. You do not have to use oil, you can replace with a Tbl or so of orange zest if you have that handy.
How are they loaded? The dates are a sweetener but not one full of empty calories with its nutritionally dense profile including dietary fibre, manganese,potassium and vitamin b6. The nuts offer a great source of plant based protein and the cocoa/cacao is very high in antioxidants
- 8 medjool dates pitted
- 1 cup of raosted almonds
- 2 Tbls cocoa or cacao
- 6 drops of wild orange essential oil (or 1 Tbl orange zest finely grated)
- 1 Tbls coconut oil
- Add all ingredients to a high powered food processor and blend until mixture holds its shape when you squeeze some in your hand.
- Roll tablespoons of the mixture into balls and refrigerate for approx 30 minutes or so.
