Choc-Orange Balls

If you have little to no time and need a little treat, go no further than these simple, nutritious delights! You may or may not be into the whole essential oil craze.  From what I have seen, the more you learn about what the oils can do, the more obsessed you become! So far, I enjoy using them to flavour my food so here is a recipe that I have used the Doterra Wild orange essential oil in. You do not have to use oil, you can replace with a Tbl or so of orange zest if you have that handy.

How are they loaded? The dates are a sweetener but not one full of empty calories with its nutritionally dense profile including dietary fibre, manganese,potassium and vitamin b6. The nuts offer a great source of plant based protein and the cocoa/cacao is very high in antioxidants

Ingredients:

  • 8 medjool dates pitted
  • 1 cup of raosted almonds
  • 2 Tbls cocoa or cacao
  • 6 drops of wild orange essential oil (or 1 Tbl orange zest finely grated)
  • 1 Tbls coconut oil

Process:

  1. Add all ingredients to a high powered food processor and blend until mixture holds its shape when you squeeze some in your hand.
  2. Roll tablespoons of the mixture into balls and refrigerate for approx 30 minutes or so. 
  3. Enjoy!
